We anticipate hosting both in-person and virtual options for the 2021 Pit Run. Check back in June for additional information. Prior year’s format for the in-person event is described below.

Pit Run Overview

The 10K Course

The challenging course loops throughout the city of Oneonta. It includes a one-mile climb up through the State University of New York at Oneonta campus and a corresponding downhill passing Hartwick College.

The 5K Course

The 5K course begins at the same start as the 10K and follows the same route along James Lettis Highway. At Main Street the 5K runners will make a left turn onto Main Street and a quick left onto Grand Street, veer right onto Division Street which turns into Market Street. At the end of Market Street, the runners will make a left, travel over the viaduct and make a left back into the park. After a loop around the pond, the runners will finish at the same finish line as the 10K runners.

The Two-Mile Stroll

The stroll route start with the 10K and 5K, then turns left back into the park.  The stroll them proceeds around the perimeter of the park and back toward a finish line near the 5K and 10K races.  This is a relaxing, scenic course with very little car traffic.

The 100k Virtual Challenge

The virtual 100K is an opportunity to participate if you can’t be at the actual event (OR, opt to participate at the event and record your mileage as you would any other day.  Pick up your sweatshirt at the event & receive Brooks’ BBQ chicken)

The Fun Run

Even the youngest kids get a chance to do something healthy too! The Fun Run is for children 10 and under. There are three age-grouped runs in the park, all ending at the Pit Run's finish line. All participants receive a prize, and refreshments are available. The Fun Run starts at 9:45am sharp, no registration needed!

Post-Race Barbecue from Brooks' House of BBQ

After the race, join us for some charcoal-roasted chicken, courtesy of Brooks' BBQ, the best barbecue joint in the area!

Packet Pickup

All runners may pick up their race packets and bib numbers on race day, Sunday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the Registration Tent in Neahwa Park, Oneonta. Race line up begins at 10:25 a.m., and the race starts promptly at 10:45 a.m.
